about Gary Brabham

Gary Brabham (born 29 March 1961 in Wimbledon, London) is a former professional racing driver from Australia and a British Formula 3000 champion.

He is the son of three time World Formula One Champion Sir Jack Brabham, and the brother of Le Mans winners Geoff and David Brabham.

His solitary F1 berth came with Life, a team which failed to prequalify for a single F1 race in its lone season of existence. Brabham's career never fully recovered, despite winning the 1991 Sebring 12 Hours and being the first Australian to start the Gold Coast Indy Grand Prix.

In 2016, he was found guilty of one charge of rape, and one charge of indecent treatment, of a child then aged 6.

“Jochen was a great driver,” Brabham told this writer in 1999. “I’d ...

Although known for his aggressive and vigorous driving style, that belied a deep mechanical understanding that made his machines some of the most sturdy and trustworthy in an era when open-wheel racecars were, as a whole, frighteningly fragile.

That season had been dominated by the Lotus 79, which introduced the world to 'ground effect' and led to championship glory for Mario Andretti.
However, it was this other machine that captured the hearts and minds of everyone involved in the sport that year too – the Brabham BT46B, or the fan car as it's more affectionately known.
Lotus had the jump on everyone when it came to ground ...

Brundle should have been the man joining Ayrton Senna and Alain Prost for the champagne celebrations. Instead the Englishman had to content with a single point for sixth – a result achieved despite the highly unusual sight of him standing next to his car in the pitlane for couple of minutes in the middle of the race…
Brabham featured on the Formula 1 grid over a 30-year stretch from 1962 to ...
