2005 Italian Grand Prix

The 2005 Italian Grand Prix was a Formula One motor race held on 4 September 2005 at the Autodromo Nazionale Monza, Italy. The race, contested over 53 laps, was the fifteenth race of the 2005 Formula One season and was won by Colombia's Juan Pablo Montoya, driving a McLaren-Mercedes, with Renault drivers Fernando Alonso and Giancarlo Fisichella second and third respectively.

Montoya's team-mate Kimi Räikkönen achieved the highest-ever speed recorded during an F1 race, 370.1 km/h (230.0 mph). Despite this, Räikkönen could only finish fourth, thus losing ground to Alonso at the top of the Drivers' Championship. Antônio Pizzonia scored his last ever world championship points at this race.
