Despite being on pole position in Austria, Nelson Piquet could not convert this into a win.
Piquet was forced to retire in lap 31 due to: Electrical.

1982 Austrian Grand Prix

The 1982 Austrian Grand Prix was a Formula One motor race held on 15 August 1982 at the Österreichring in Spielberg, Styria, Austria. The race, contested over 53 laps, was the thirteenth race of the 1982 Formula One season and was won by Elio de Angelis, driving a Lotus-Ford. De Angelis held off Keke Rosberg's Williams-Ford to win by just 0.05 seconds, or less than half a car length. Jacques Laffite finished third in a Ligier-Matra, one lap behind.
